| The Yorkshire Dales & Local Area
Standing in and among some of the most spectacular scenery the Yorkshire Dales has to offer,
is
the 18th Century CB Inn.
Situated in Arkengarthdale, a tributary valley of Swaledale and once the centre of a thriving
local lead mining industry, the CB Inn offers an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and make the most of what this beautiful dale has to offer.
The Inn itself is centred between several small market towns, each with its own unique character
and appeal and is an ideal place to stay for not only walkers but also those who enjoy strolling around village markets and shops.
Five miles down the road is Reeth, a bustling village with a lively community and a regular Friday market.
Another ten miles is the more sizeable town of Richmond, famed for its Georgian Theatre & Castle as well as its many shops and tearooms. A regular market is also hosted in the square.
A stunning drive over Buttertubs Pass, through spectacular mountain roads will lead you to
Hawes, the main market town of Wensleydale, with a working Rope Maker and a recently
refurbished Dales Countryside Museum.
Also worth a visit is the well-known town of Barnard Castle, home to a number of excellent
antique shops and the famous Bowes Museum, as well as a weekly agricultural market. Nearby High Force Waterfalls
are also
well worth a visit.
